As we are heading towards Fall-2020, a large number of iPhone 12 leaks have begun to surface online. They are pointing to a number of major changes and unexpected twists. Unlike the previous versions, the new iPhones will get a flat metal design. Also, with the introduction of the LiDAR sensor, the camera setup will see a dramatic enhancement. In this article, you will find all the details, along with the most possible iPhone 12 release date and price. Now, let’s dive in.
iPhone 12 Leaks: How many iPhone 12 models will be there?
Last year, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 12 claimed that the iPhone 12 would arrive in four different variants. They would be known as:
- 5.4-inch iPhone 12
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro
- 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max
Kuo has a great track record of predicting the release date and features of future iDevices. So, his claim about four new iPhone models is really significant.
Back in April 2020, prolific leakster John Prosser, who has revealed a large number of major iPhone 12 leaks, also tweeted four CAD renders of the next-gen Apple smartphone, further strengthening Kuo’s claim.
Prototyping for iPhone 12 devices is just about finalized!
Final details line up pretty well with what Kuo said last year! 🤯
Expect to see CAD renders of the devices within the next month or two from your favorite leakers! 👀

iPhone 12 Leaks: What is the release date of iPhone 12?
The iPhone 12 will not see its debut in September. Instead, the revelation will take place in October 2020. The current coronavirus situation has forced Apple to delay its introduction.
Leakster Jon Prosser has tweeted that the launch event will take place on October 12. The preorder will begin on the same date. The shipping will start on October 19. However, for the iPhone 12 Pro, the preorder and shipping will begin in November. But there is no information about the dates.

iPhone 12 Leaks: Design
iPhone 12 to Feature a Flat-Metal Design like iPad Pro (2020) and iPhone 4
With the iPhone 12, Apple might bring a retro design, rather than moving forward with a more modern look. According to Bloomberg, the flat-metal design of the iPhone 5 will make its return to the next-gen Apple smartphone. It will make the iPhone 12 look quite similar to the iPad Pro 2020.
In June, leakster @SonnyDickson tweeted the image of three iPhone 12 dummies. Their sizes were 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch respectively. Also, they had flat chassis like the iPhone 4.
Here are the first iPhone 12 dummies: 3 sizes (5.4, 6.1, 6.7). Flat edges, 3 cameras on the bump like recent molds. Notch, cameras should not be taken 100%, but chassis promising. pic.twitter.com/fcw3bLhVEF— Sonny Dickson (@SonnyDickson) June 21, 2020
The tweet corresponds to Bloomberg’s claim of the inclusion of the flat metal design in iPhone 12.
iPhone 12 to be Narrower than iPhone 7
There is a very interesting information revealed by MacRumors forum user iZac. He shared a leaked iPhone 12 image, showing a purchased dummy unit of the 5.4-inch variant. Despite having a larger screen, the device is even smaller than the 4.7-inch iPhone 7. Being more compact, it will be more suitable for one handed use.
Here is the image he shared on MacRumors forum:
As you can see, the 5.7-inch iPhone 12 is 3mm narrower than the iPhone 7. However, it’s about 6mm wider than the original iPhone SE.
Notch Going Nowhere
There has been a lot of iPhone 12 rumors about the notch. Most of them point to Apple either reducing the size or remove it completely. But it looks that it’s not going to happen. According to the mysterious industry insider Mr. White, the size of the Face ID will be the same as the one in iPhone 11. As a result, the notch will not get any smaller. Here is the leaked iPhone 12 image that he shared via Twitter:
Same Face iD Size pic.twitter.com/nn61avvsEc— Mr·white (@laobaiTD) August 6, 2020
Mr. White hasn’t mentioned about which iPhone 12 model the chassis is from. However, it seems to be the 5.4-inch entry level variant. There is no information about the other pricier models, including iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
iPhone 12 Leaks: Display
OLED Display for All iPhone 12 Variants
iPhone 12 will arrive in four models with different screen sizes. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will have 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch displays. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays.
Analyst Ming Chi Kuo claims about the inclusion of OLED technology in all the iPhone 12 models. Right now, only the Pro variant of the current generation iPhone 11 supports the specific panel. So, including it in all the versions of iPhone 12 will help Apple to strengthen the display standard in its smartphone lineup significantly.
As said earlier, leakster Mr. White shared a leaked image of the alleged iPhone 12 display. The screen came with the OLED panel, further strengthening Kuo’s claim about the inclusion of the specific technology.
iPhone 12 to Support Display Zoom Feature
The next-gen Apple smartphone will support Display Zoom technology. 9to5Mac found the leaked iPhone 12 feature on iOS 14 beta. It will enable you to change the interface size to match with the smaller screen. For example, you can switch from a 5.8-inch model to a view of 5.4-inch display with 960 x 2079 resolution. It will make the icons bigger and more zoomed in.
iPhone 12 Leaks: Camera
LiDAR Sensor Coming in iPhone 12
There are several iPhone 12 leaks about highly advanced shooting technology that have been buzzing online. The most significant one is the introduction of quad-camera setup. In addition to the three lenses as the predecessor, the device will have an additional LiDAR sensor, just like iPad Pro (2020).
PhoneArena has already shown a glimpse of how the quad-camera setup will look like with the LiDAR scanner through a beautiful rendering. Take a look at it:
The LiDAR sensor will assess the distance and depth accurately. As a result, the Augmented Reality (AR) technology and Portrait mode will see a dramatic advancement.
iPhone 12 Camera to Record 4K Videos at up to 240fps
The video recording capability will reach a new level. According to a leaked iPhone 12 video of EverythingApplePro, the camera will be able to record 4K videos at 120fps or 240fps. Take a look at it:
The current iPhone 11 shooter can capture 4K footage at a maximum 60fps. So, it’s going to be a major improvement.
Main Shooter to have 7-Element Lens
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple would include 7-element lens in the main shooter of the iPhone 12. It will be an upgrade from the 6-element lens of the current generation iPhone 11. The extra lens will allow the camera of the new Apple smartphone to reduce the image distortion significantly. So, it will be able to deliver a much better performance than the predecessor.
iPhone 12 Leaks: Hardware
New A14 Bionic Processor to Be Twice as Fast as Snapdragon 865
The iPhone 12 will feature the new A14 Bionic processor. It will be significantly more powerful than the Snapdragon 865, the chipset used in almost all the flagship Android phones.
According to a recently leaked iPhone 12 benchmark score, the A14 processor will be almost two times faster than the Snapdragon 865. In Geekbench 5 (multi-core) test, Apple’s upcoming chipset posted 4,612 points.
In the same test, the Snapdragon 865 processor on Samsung Galaxy S20 scored only 2,626 points. That’s a massive margin!
A14 Bionic will also be significantly faster than the A13 chipset. According to tipster @Komiya, the CPU will be 40% more powerful. The GPU will also be 50% faster.

The highly enhanced components will allow to play the current and future mobile games at an incredibly smooth fps.
New 802.11 ay Specification Coming to iPhone 12
Apple is working on making the connections between its smartphones quicker than ever before. According to Mac Otakara, a Japanese website, the Cupertino company is bringing the new 802.11 ay specification to the iPhone 12. It will allow you to share content at an incredible speed of 20-30 Gbps. So, you will need a significantly less time to share photos, videos and files with another iPhone.
iPhone 12 Leaks: Battery
iPhone 12 to Sport Smaller Batteries
It looks like Apple is going to use smaller batteries in all the variants of its next-gen smartphone. According to tipster @Komiya, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will have 2227 mAh and 2815 mAh batteries respectively. In terms of capacity, they are smaller than 3110 mAh battery of the current generation iPhone 11.
The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will come with 2775 mAh and 3687 mAh batteries. They are also smaller than their predecessors. The current generation iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have 3046 mAh and 3969 mAh batteries respectively.

12 Max 2815mAh (A2479)
12 Pro 2775mAh (A2431)
12 Pro Max 3687mAh (A2466)
Apart from leaking iPhone 12 battery capacity, @Komiya has revealed the reason behind the inclusion of smaller batteries. He claims that the camera component will be bigger. Also, the LiDAR sensor will be included in the camera setup. All these things force Apple to use smaller batteries in its next-gen smartphones.
Magnets for Lining Up with Wireless Chargers
Just like the predecessor, the iPhone 12 will feature the wireless charging system. However, the technology will see some advancements. You will be able to use it more comfortably.
According to @EverythingApplePro, there will be magnets inside the iPhone 12 chassis. The leakster tweeted the leaked iPhone 12 chassis images, which were reportedly fast seen on Chinese website Weibo.

When you use any compatible charging mat, the magnets will help the smartphone to automatically align itself for getting topped up. So, you will not have to worry about the correct placement.
iPhone 12 Leaks: Connectivity
USB-C Not Coming to iPhone 12
The Apple fans have been eagerly waiting to see USB-C on iPhone 12 this year. However, it’s not going to happen. The device will still stick to Lightning. Leakster @choco_bit also informs that the USB-C prototype hasn’t made into the production. So, you will have to wait longer to see it in the Apple smartphones.
Shame the USB-c prototype iPhone 12’s arent making it to production. 1 more year of lightning 🥳😭— Fudge (@choco_bit) May 25, 2020
Oh well, at least smart connector on 13 series
According to leakster @jon_prosser, the Cupertino company will introduce port-less design in its smartphone lineup before adopting USB-C.
I feel like I shouldn’t have to say this, but no — there’s absolutely not USB-C in iPhone 12.— Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) April 18, 2020
Apple will go portless before they go USB-C.
It will take some time for Apple to introduce USB-C in its smartphone lineup. So, you are not going to see the technology on iPhone 12 in 2020.
Faster 5G Speed for More Expensive Variants
All the reports about iPhone 12 leaks are pointing to the introduction of the 5G technology to all of the four models. However, the internet speed will not be equal. The more expensive ones will deliver faster performance. According to leakster Jon Prosser, the standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will support Sub-6GHz radio. On the other hand, the pricier models, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, will support the faster mmWave 5G radio. As a result, they will provide you with an outstanding internet experience with an incredible speed.
Two Additional 4G Only iPhone 12 Models Coming in 2020
Apart from releasing four different 5G compatible iPhones, Apple might bring two more 4G smartphones. Their prices will be relatively cheaper than their 5G counterparts. According to @omegaleaks, the 4G version of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will cost $549 and $649 respectively. Each of their 5G counterparts will cost $100 more.
my first iphone rumor is the 4g version of the 12 and 12 max— Omega LEAKS and RUMORS (@omegaleaks) June 25, 2020
iphone 12(4g) if it happens will be 549$
4g 12 max will be 649$ and there 5g prices are 649 and 749 just like jon prosser said.
